TIP: Getting Back a Deleted Post

Hello blogging reader!

Found yourself thinking: "NOOOO!!! I accidentally deleted a Blogger post! How do I get it back?!?!"

The interesting thing about Blogger is that there is no 'bin' (not that I have noticed anyway) so you can't just undo a delete. Well, as a man of experience from a couple of days ago (having accidentally deleted a post - I blame the Android Blogger app for that!), I'm here to share with you how I got it back. Hope it helps.

Firstly, if it was a draft copy - you won't be able to get it back. Sadly, it's just the way it is.

Now, if it was a published post, you might just be in luck! Hopefully the post was up long enough to get it cached on Google.

NOTES: (i) This following method won't get the post back, or its stats etc. It will only give you back your written layout. (ii) This process was done using Windows 7 - if you use Mac or Linux, please adjust accordingly. (iii) Enlarge the images below for a better idea of what to do.

1) Remember your post name, and google "<blog name> <blog post>"

So, for example, when I searched for mine, I did "being harish pancholi android chrome" and it found my post.

Next, there should be arrows next to the search result (if it shows up), click that then select CACHE.

Follow the red squares

2) Now, the post will come up looking a little different than normal. Regardless, copy your work (it's not plagiarism, I promise... unless you plagiarised what you originally wrote.)

All sorts of colours of the rainbow

3) This step can be done in one of 2 ways once you have copied your post:

(a) If there were no images, then right click > "Paste as plain text" (or, alternatively press "ctrl + shift + v")

Option A

(b) If there were images, then paste as your normally would, then select the "Remove formatting" button (see: '2nd' red box below).

Option B

From here, continue to re-format so it looks pretty again!

Sadly, it's the best method I have come across. If you have a better method, please do share!!

If you found this to be helpful, let it be known below with a +1, share, tweet, smiley face or a random yet funny joke.

-Harish, out
