In the News Today: Who's Really Retarded?

Secret filming caught patients being
dragged and slapped by support
workers
Hey reader,

Saw an alarming bit of news on the BBC today, which is an excerpt from its undercover TV documentary show, Panorama, which includes footage of the mentally handicapped in an institute, a place created to care for those who cannot do for themselves, being physically abused to terrible levels for amusement, and is paid for by us UK taxpayers.

This all happened at the Winterbourne View, Bristol, UK. Click below for more information on what happened, and to see the footage:
BBC News - Patient abuse caught on film labelled 'torture'
Panorama is airing in the UK on BBC1, 31st May, 2011 on BBC1 at 9pm - see it also on the BBC iPlayer.
Where the hell do people get off from torturing the defenceless? What goes through the mind of a person getting their jollies off from doing what they do to these people? Hey, how about if you get sent to hospital and you require being cared for by a nurse? And instead of caring for you as is supposed to happen, he or she slaps you around and asks you to suck your mum. Maybe pinches at the part of the body which needs healing. It's truly a low of lows to pick on people, particularly when their frame of mind cannot fully take on as we typically mentally-abled people would.

All forms of abuse is wrong, but this, in a country where people are understanding and privileged to live in a "developed society" who orchestrate such actions, its disgusting! It's no surprise though, sadly, that it does happen, it's more a shock to see it happen. It makes me feel nasty knowing that there is a difference in that line, suggesting deep down I accept that all over the world, people of all natures are abusing or being abused in lighter or harsher aspects.

Ask yourself if you're such an animal: if someone done this to you or someone you care for, would you be happy about it? Stop it. Don't be a coward, an insecure person who must abuse to show some sorta dominance.

Wake the hell up and be a human, we ain't Neanderthals, we're a society with the ability to do more and choose to not be assholes.

And another thing: to the group of people who are organised to regulate care in the country but don't, also known as "Quality Care Commision" - when someone, in this case an employee of the establishment, sends you concern of the manner off care being given to patients of a mental institute, do your damn job and don't wait for a bloody documentary pointing out the situation as well as your inept ability to do what you are commissioned for, before taking action. Click here to see what they can achieve when they are shown to not make an effort across the nation.

If you or someone you know may be affected by this piece of news, and would like ideal contacts, pease see the following BBC link:

Hope it helps
